President leads Medical Doctors and Lawyers in a Physical Activity Session

Press Statement for Immediate Release

Lusaka (2nd march, 2019) Today, His Excellency, Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, President of the Republic of Zambia led Medical Doctors and Lawyers in the physical activity session at State Lodge in Lusaka.

Minister of Health Dr. Chitalu Chilufya, MP, and Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary – Technical Services Dr. Kennedy Malama led the pack of Medical Doctors while from the legal fraternity Attorney General Likando Kalaluka led the lawyers.

The physical activity session which, covered 15 kilometers of different paces and styles, started from 05:30hours to 08:00hours.

Other noted people that took part in the session are brothers who underwent the landmark kidney transplant surgery at the University Teaching Hospitals in Lusaka. Tinashe Kasweshi (lawyer) donated a kidney to Dr. Job Kasweshi.

At the end of the session, President Lungu says he is concerned with the number of people especially youths suffering and dying from Non Communicable Disease (NCDs).

President Lungu appealed to Lawyers and Medical doctors to entrench wellness and being healthy in their daily lives referring to the importance of healthy diets, physical activity, among other high impact modifiable lifestyles.

He assured the participants that in June 2019, there will be a Major physical activity which he would lead and urged the Lawyers and Medical Doctors to continue with Physical activities.

Dr Chilufya challenged Medical doctors not to wait for patients in consulting rooms coming with strokes, myocardial infarction, and diabetes but proactively lead by example by promoting good health and preventing disease.
