This report highlights the different levels of service provisions and location of health facilities in Zambia. It provides an overview and guidance to facilitate ease of access to the health facilities.
The last official compilation of List Health Facilities in Zambia was published in 2002 followed by another publication in 2008. The 2010 publication is the third in the series of comprehensive listing of health facilities in the country and it is more comprehensive than the previous editions in that it includes information on the distribution and location of private health facilities in the country including distances of the facilities to the district medical offices.
The exercise of compiling a comprehensive list of health facilities has been a demanding one. It has often meant that individual districts submit up-to-date list of existing health facilities to the national level for aggregation. It is my sincere hope that this publication will make it easier for everyone to find specific information they need about the level and location of health facilities in the country.
It is my expectation that this publication will assist in data analysis and use of infrastructure based information by policy makers, programme managers and cooperating partners, in addressing achievements and challenges related to improving access and utilization of health services.

Therefore, in light of the dynamic growth in the number of health facilities that have been established in the country over the past few years, it has become imperative that the Ministry updates this list and ensure its dissemination in the health sector to all stakeholders.
