OVERVIEW OF THE TRAINING

Ndola District has a total population projected at 462,459 with a growth rate of 1.6%. Of the total population, 101,740 (22%) are women of
childbearing age. The under five population is approximately 92,491(20%). The percentage of females and males is 49.8 (230,304) and 50.2% (232,154) respectively (CSO, 2000).

Mansa School Of Nursing

Mansa School of Nursing is a Co-education Registered Nursing Training Institution of the Ministry of Health. It is situated in Mansa, the Provincial Headquarters of Luapula Province. It is approximately half a kilometer from Town centre along Chembe Road which links Luapula Province to the Copperbelt Province of Zambia.

The World Bank built the School and it was opened as a Zambia Enrolled Nursing School on 11th March 1979. The first intake comprised 15 pupil nurses under the Swedish Management. The School has been training Enrolled Nurses until the year 2000 when it was converted to a Registered Nursing Programme and it was commissioned on 3rd May 2008.
