GOAL: To produce highly qualified and dedicated Registered Nurses and Midwives. VISION: To be a leading Nursing and Midwifery Training Institution upholding professional excellence at all times. MOTTO: Training for Professional Excellence Ndola District has a total population projected at 462,459 with a growth rate of 1.6%. Of the total population, 101,740 (22%) are women of childbearing age. The under five population is approximately 92,491(20%). The percentage of females and males is 49.8 (230,304) and 50.2% (232,154) respectively (CSO, 2000). Ndola is Zambia’s second largest city and has a 3rd referral hospital, Ndola Central Hospital. Ndola Schools of Nursing and Midwifery are situated within Ndola Central Hospital grounds. The institution is 3 km away from Ndola General Post Office west of Ndola and 3 km away from Ndola International Airport West of Ndola. The School of Nursing offers a 3-year Pre-service Registered Nursing programme and a 2-year registered Nursing Conversion Programme for Enrolled Nurses. The School of Midwifery offers a one (1) year Post Basic Registered Midwifery programme. The School of Nursing has 4 hostels for student accommodation with a capacity of 104 rooms. The hostels cater for students pursuing the Registered Nursing programmes. The School of Midwifery has 6 hostels with a capacity of 42 rooms. Each hostel is self contained and can accommodate 14 students. Guest students on attachment to Ndola Central Hospital are accommodated in the Nursing and Midwifery hostels. Students accessing Psychiatric Nursing include those from Mufulira, Chilonga, Livingstone and St. Pauls. Other guest students include Biomedical Technologists, Dental Technologists, Physiotherapist, General Clinical Officers and Medical Licentiate. The Administrative building comprises offices, library, and classrooms and is situated in between School of Nursing and School of Midwifery student hostels. Academic Staff consists of the Nursing Education Manager, Two Principal Tutors, (one for each), Senior Tutors, Nurse Tutors and Clinical Instructors. Supportive staff include Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant, Librarian, Purchasing and Supplies Assistant, Stenographer, Typist, Registry Clerk, Driver, Hostel Attendants, Office Orderly, Cooks, Waiters and Station Handyman. The schools financial resources are drawn from the GRZ grant, Co-operating Partners and to a lesser degree from fundraising.
