“HEALTH in All Policies” is defined as an approach to public policies across sectors that takes into account the health of the general populous for better living.
The aim of the Government on health in all policies is to avoid harmful health impacts on the people in order to healthier population for the steady economic development of the nation.
The environment in which people born, grow and get old usually determines their healthy and unhealthy status and is for this reason that Government endevours to sensitize people on that aspect to improve their lives.
Ministry of health assistant director in charge of determinants of health Dr Wezi Kaonga says there are many social aspects that influence the well-being of individuals.
He said studies have shown that the more people are educated or sensitized the lesser possibility of exposing themselves to unhealthy behavior.
Dr Kaonga noted that some health habits could be related to the people’s education levels, hence education plays pivotal role in tackling determinants of health.
“Government has recognised that there are several social determinants of health, that lead to many diseases.
Social determinants of health are factors, which influence health status and determine health differentials or health inequalities.
