Infertility is real – First Lady Esther Lungu

First Lady Esther Lungu says the problem of infertility in Zambia is real and
requires concerted to be addressed.
Mrs Lungu says infertility remains a public health problem and has negative
impact on couples and families.
The first lady was speaking at the launch of Merck Foundation and Merck
more than a mother program that will be working with her foundation and
the Ministry of Health in addressing infertility.
Mrs Lungu said it is sad that women are blamed for infertility and that some
of them have ended up been abused and losing their marriages.
Minister of Health Dr. Chitalu Chilufya says government is rolling out fertility
services across the country to enable everyone access.
Dr. Chilufya says the ministry has started building capacity among health
workers that will provide infertility services countrywide.
In line with the Universal Health Coverage agenda, Dr. Chilufya says the
Government under the impeccable leadership of His Excellency, Mr. Edgar
Chagwa Lungu will ensure that all health problems facing the country are
addressed.
Meanwhile, Merck foundation President Rasha Kelej says her foundation
wants to help women in Zambia with infertility challenges to access
specialist treatment.
